| Casio FX-82ES Plus | Rs. 2,500 | School, Matric, O Level |

FX-82ES Plus or FX-991EX — which do you actually need?
This is the question we get most, and the honest answer is that most school students do not need the FX-991EX.
The FX-82ES Plus at Rs. 2,500 covers the entire Matric and O Level syllabus — trigonometry, logs, statistics, fractions. Nothing on those papers requires more.
The FX-991EX at Rs. 4,750 adds equation solving, matrices, vectors, integration, complex numbers and a higher-resolution display. If you are heading into engineering, physics or a university programme, the difference is worth Rs. 2,250. If you are in Class 9, it is not.
What about the FX-991ES Plus at Rs. 4,000?
The older generation of the same idea. It does most of what the EX does, at Rs. 750 less, with a slower processor and lower-resolution screen. If your syllabus specifies it, buy it. Otherwise the EX is the better long-term purchase.
Exam board approval — check before you buy
Cambridge, the Punjab boards and most Pakistani universities allow non-programmable scientific calculators. Programmable and graphing models are frequently barred.
Both the FX-82ES Plus and the FX-991EX are non-programmable and accepted almost everywhere. If you are unsure, the FX-82ES Plus is the safest choice — we have never seen a board disallow it.
Always check your own board's current permitted-calculator list. Rules change, and an invigilator's ruling on the day is final.
Basic and office calculator prices
| Model | Price |
|---|---|
| Citizen CT-512 Check & Correct | Rs. 745 |
| Citizen MJ-120D Plus | Rs. 1,245 |
| Citizen CT-9814 | Rs. 1,260 |
| Citizen CT-9914D | Rs. 1,295 |
| Citizen CT-9514G | Rs. 1,550 |
| Casio DJ-120D Plus | Rs. 3,175 |
| Casio DJ-240D Plus | Rs. 7,600 |
"Check & Correct" is worth paying for if you use a calculator daily. It stores the last 112 or 120 steps so you can scroll back and fix one entry rather than starting the whole calculation again. For a shop counter or an accounts desk that feature alone justifies the price difference.
Financial calculators
| Model | Price | For |
|---|---|---|
| Texas Instruments BA II Plus | Rs. 14,500 | CFA, ACCA, finance |
| Professional financial calculator | Rs. 16,500 | Business, treasury |
The BA II Plus is the calculator CFA Institute permits, and it handles NPV, IRR, amortisation and time-value-of-money functions that scientific calculators do not. If you are sitting CFA, this is not optional — only two models are allowed and this is the common one.
How to spot a fake Casio
Counterfeit Casio calculators are widespread in Pakistan, and they are convincing at a glance. What gives them away:
- Button response. Fakes need a firmer press and miss keystrokes. Genuine Casio keys register with a light, consistent click.
- Display contrast. Counterfeits wash out at an angle and dim within months.
- Print quality on the keys. Look closely at the small function labels — fakes are slightly blurred or misaligned.
- Weight. Genuine units feel denser. Counterfeits feel hollow.
- Price. An FX-991EX at Rs. 1,800 is not an FX-991EX.
A fake typically fails within a year, usually mid-exam-season. Every calculator we sell is an original unit, and our 7-day return covers it if one arrives faulty.
