Where editions genuinely matter
Physiology moves slowly — an edition or two behind is rarely a problem. Pharmacology is the opposite: drug classes, indications and guidelines change between editions, and an outdated pharmacology text will teach you protocols that are no longer used. If you buy one current edition in this collection, make it the pharmacology one.
Why photocopied pathology books fail
Pathology is taught through histopathology slides and gross specimen photographs. Distinguishing one tissue pattern from another depends entirely on colour and resolution — exactly what a photocopy destroys. A grey, unresolvable Robbins is not a cheaper Robbins; it is a book you cannot learn the subject from.
